DIY Photo Earrings: How To Turn Your Favorite Images into Giftworthy Wearable Art
As someone who loves photography, I’ve collected tons of photos over the years—tiny moments, landscapes, loved ones, and creative captures. But let’s be honest: how often do we actually look at those pictures sitting on our phones or drives? I was on the hunt for a creative and meaningful way to wear my memories instead of just storing them—and that’s how these DIY photo earrings were born!

These earrings are fun to make, totally customizable, and make amazing gifts or personal keepsakes. Whether you’re showcasing a favorite sunset, your pet, or even a mini selfie, these little accessories are sure to get compliments.

I’ve included links to the exact products I used but you can use whatever size earrings you like! Just make sure the hole punch and earrings match in size.
- UV acrylic resin
- UV light (small nail lamp works great)
- Printed photos
- Hole punch or circle punch
- Earring bezels or flat-back earring blanks (side note: I have sensitive ears and these have worked great for me)
- Earring hooks or studs (optional)
- Small pliers (optional)
🖼 Step 1: Choose Your Photos & Print Them
Scroll through your favorite pictures and pick ones with a strong central image and bright colors. Use a photo editing program to resize them into 10 mm circles (or whatever size matches your punch/earrings). Print them on high-quality photo paper for best results.

I used a 10mm hole punch and earring bezel so I needed my circles to be 10mm as well. I used Canva to create a template of the images I wanted to use and then flipped all the images on a second page so that my earrings would mirror each other.
I have included a video showing how I created my Canva template here.
🧪 Step 2: Add a Base Layer of UV Resin
Place your earring blanks on a flat surface. Carefully squeeze a thin layer of UV acrylic resin into each bezel. Use a toothpick to evenly spread it if needed.
Place under the UV light and cure for about 20 seconds. You want the acrylic to still be a little sticky. This gives your photo a nice base to sit on.

🕳 Step 3: Punch Out Your Pictures
Using your circle punch, cut your photos to the exact size of your earring blanks. Make sure the image is centered before punching!
💎 Step 4: Add the Photo & Seal
Lay your photo cutout onto the cured resin layer inside the earring bezel. Gently press it down to flatten it. Then, add another layer of UV resin on top, fully covering the photo. If you have any bubbles in your acrylic you can run a flame from a lighter over it and that usually takes care of them.
Cure under the UV light for 1 minute until fully hardened and crystal clear.

👂 Step 5: Attach the Earring Hooks
Once everything is cured and cool, use small pliers (if needed) to attach your earring hooks or studs to the blanks. That’s it—you’re done!
🎁 Step 6: Wear, Gift, and Enjoy!
These DIY photo earrings are perfect for showing off a little piece of your story. Make a pair with a picture of your pet, your kids, your favorite flower—anything you love. They also make incredibly thoughtful gifts for birthdays, holidays, or just because!
